The company
Elecsyor is a young deeptech company originating from academic research, specializing in the development of fibrillar electrostatic actuators designed for soft and wearable robotics.

Its ambition is to make robotics more human, lighter, and seamlessly integrated into everyday life by creating a new generation of compact, silent, and energy‑efficient artificial muscles.

Based in Lyon, Elecsyor builds on strong scientific expertise and a commitment to delivering reliable, high‑quality technological solutions.

The Origin of the Project
Elecsyor emerged from research conducted at the LMTS Laboratory of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) between 2020 and 2026.

This work led to the development of a one‑of‑a‑kind electrostatic motor capable of replicating the mechanical properties of a human muscle in the form of a flexible fiber.

After several years of experimental development and the demonstration of unprecedented performance, the project took shape in France with the objective of transferring and industrializing this technology for applications in robotics and wearable systems.

Technology
The technology developed by Elecsyor is based on a fibrillar linear electrostatic motor. Each fiber consists of two coaxial helical electrodes whose electrostatic interactions generate a reversible and continuous linear motion.

This motor combines compactness, flexibility, responsiveness, and modularity, while being integrable into textiles or flexible structures. Thanks to its cylindrical format and self‑aligning capability, it introduces a new technological building block for creating efficient, reliable, and miniaturizable artificial muscles.

Applications
The fibrillar motors developed by Elecsyor open the door to numerous applications in the fields of soft and wearable robotics

The founder
Sylvain Schaller, founder and inventor of the motor, is an engineer and holds a PhD in microengineering. He conducted his research on fibrillar electrostatic motors within the LMTS at EPFL before creating Elecsyor to bring this technology to industry. His background combines scientific rigor with entrepreneurial vision, strengthened by experience in innovation and industrial consulting at EY.

Driven by the belief that robotics should draw inspiration from nature and adapt to humans, he now leads Elecsyor with a technological and ethical mindset, focused on quality and long‑term sustainability.
